Why would I buy bulk URLs?

One of the constant questions that online marketing professionals receive is why a business would want to purchase bulk URLs. After all, a business only needs one website in most cases – there is really no reason to purchase more than one uniform resource locator to point to that website, right?

Actually, the purchase of bulk URLs has more than one use. First of all, for any small business that is looking to build and maintain an audience on the Internet, bulk URL purchases are sometimes necessary to keep competition away. One of the more effective online marketing procedures to follow in order to decrease the notoriety of competitors is to purchase a URL that is similar to theirs and use that in order to degrade the competition. If your company wants to make sure that no cutthroat competition tries to use this strategy against your website, you may need to buy domain names in bulk that are similar to yours.

Secondly, making a bulk purchase of domain names can also prove profitable for business as a separate income stream. If you have insider information into a certain industry, you may be able to profit off of the sale of registered domain names to companies within that industry. Making a bulk purchase of prevalent keywords within a certain industry is also a well-known tactic for cutthroat competitors – if you know that you are trying to get into an industry, you will need to make your domain name purchases early in order to keep from paying a premium to a third-party later.

In order to keep up with the keywords that are relevant to your industry, and thus the URLs that will be important, you will need the help of a reputable registration site such as register.com. There are simply too many names and keywords to keep up with, especially for a small business owner that does not have the capacity to monitor the Internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This is the type of service that register.com and other reputable registration companies can provide for business owners who need to protect themselves at the beginning of the website creation process.

  1. I suppose if I have the money and the need then it would make sense to get all my links bulk.

  2. I know it is a very good SEO, and I heard of many usage of the mentioned technique. I like the idea to make a bulk purchase of the well established domain names, at least the one that don't have a spam-mark from Google. :)

  3. It is a good idea, but I presume that the good standing , clean and domains with the good content on them are pretty costly.
If you were about to buy something like that, let say around 50 domains, would it make a big difference?
